Covid Grading Policy

Covid Grading Policy Spring 2020

Hamilton County has developed the following policy with regards to grading Quarter 4 work and how it will be averaged for the students grade.

  1. No student's grade will be allowed to dip lower than it was when school moved to online classes. This shift aligned with the end of Quarter 3.
  2.  Full year classes grades will take Semester 1 and Quarter 3 grades and average them together. This will be the students baseline grade and it can not go lower.
  3. Block (single semester) classes grades will be based wholly on Quarter 3. This will be the students baseline grade and it can not go lower.
  4. All student work will be graded. To demonstrate that the work was done, the teacher will mark the assignment as Collected in PowerSchool. If the grade on the assignment is the same or higher than the student's current grade the collected mark will be changed to a grade.
  5. Now is a time for students to work to bring up grades. The student can increase a grade if they complete the work and score higher on it than their class average.
